Bet you didn't think you'd see a little "skin" on this site, well you will, cuz that's part of the character modeling game! Here's a test shot of a partially colored Ian McKellen - still have some spec backscatter etc to do as well but it's coming along!

Aptly titled since a "WIP" is a "work in progress", so this blog then is a journey of a process of working on projects - thus: a journey of journeys. I will of course post finished pieces as well but the main brunt of things will be the works in progress. My works range from 3D to digital painting and some hand drawn stuff as well.
My background is that I am a student at the Art Institute of Vancouver, soon to be graduating and going out into the exciting world of 3d modeling - hopefully movies and tv but also games should the opportunities arise.
So, without further adieu, here's a few things to begin with:
Digital Painting
Modeling/Texturing
Full body with clothes. I've done a fair bit more on him since I'm fixing him up for my demo reel. I've also done Clark Kent clothing as well but my latest stuff will be posted once I've done a few quick renders of it.
Texturing class. I didn't model the gun except a couple of little pieces but mainly this was for texturing. I tried to make it a green gun with sand in it's cracks...needs more work.
Boba Fett's rifle - fully modeled and soon to be textured (another demo reel piece)
Modeled Boba Fett's Jetpack (see a pattern - I'll do the full character later). I textured it as well, but still working on it. I like it so far, and much improved from my other things.
An unfinished Jabba the Hutt's palace. Need more props and details but a good start anyways.
Texturing a head. I only textured the head but I liked how the scars turned out, very gruesome muhahahaha! Not too bad for my first skin texturing.
My ghostbuster proton pack concept - the idea was if a redneck decided to dress up as a ghostbuster but only used things from a junkyard to make it. I really like how the model turned out. Lots of little pieces of interest/parts to it: Toaster, car battery, pop can, WD-40 bottle, film canister (y'know before digital cameras), a film reel case (the big metal ones they used for film reels for movies), backpack straps, a foam piece, rifle handle, bike handles, weight lifting belt, vacuum hose and a metal sheet. All of it is wrapped in duct tape. I'll be texturing it for my reel as well. The character idea I had for it was a redneck Ghostbuster girl - another character I'll do later.

So, without further adieu, here's a few things to begin with:
Digital Painting
my first one - not so great, but it's a start
My second after some speed paint practice - I love it - based off Alex Ross' one if you didn't already know
Taking Goro Fujita's style to a scene from Fight Club - Brad Pitt on the left and Edward Norton on the rightConcept
Four Horseman Concept - Famine as a tribal guy
A "team" based off of a cartoon style - Batman Animated Series
Modeling/Texturing
Because, who doesn't like the old school batmobile? The polyflow isn't great right now but I'll fix it up later. this one is definitely a WIP
A deserted temple up in a mountain made low-poly. One of my earlier bouts with texturing, so it's OK but definitely room for improvement. I did like the mossy brick road there but my favorite is the bump on the pillars. It's just a cylinder with bump so I'm happy it turned out so well. Another cool thing is the statue. One of my first character models before I knew how to properly do it.
Gossamer the big monster from Looney Tunes - my first official character model from school
Character texturing - unfortunately I lost most of my jpegs from this assignment. I did like the fabric texturing I did on this. The weaving went very directionwise on the model.
Some low-poly game models. I love this little hot dog stand.
Character modeling - Christopher Reeves...needs more work but still cool for my first head.
Character modeling class - it's me! Though I'm much more handsome in real life haha. My second modeled head.
Alex Ross Styled Superman, don't worry I shrunk his head later. I'm very happy with how this turned out.

That's all for now. I've got some other cool things I'm working on that I'll post in a day or two as well but I'll leave you with this for now.
